Caring for a loved one is one of the most rewarding things you can do — but it can also be exhausting. Eastdale Healthcare's respite care service gives family carers in Kettering and Northamptonshire the chance to rest, recharge, and attend to their own wellbeing, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is in safe hands.
Respite care is temporary, short-term home care provided to give a primary carer a break. It can be planned in advance — for example, regular weekly cover so a family carer can work or socialise — or arranged at short notice when a carer is ill, has a family emergency, or simply needs some time off. We step in seamlessly so that the person being cared for experiences as little disruption as possible.
We offer both scheduled respite (regular visits on agreed days) and emergency respite cover for when life does not go to plan. Our care coordinators work quickly to arrange cover and ensure handover notes are thorough, so our carers arrive fully briefed on the individual's routines, preferences, and any health considerations.
Research shows that family carers who take regular breaks provide better quality care in the long run. Burnout is a real risk for unpaid carers, and taking time for yourself is not selfish — it is essential. Eastdale Healthcare is here to make sure you can take that time without anxiety, and return to your caring role refreshed.
